A Lesson from Fishing

A Lesson from Fishing

If your line isn't in the water, you definitely won't catch a fish...

Yesterday, our oldest daughter competed in a fishing derby, where she and some other kids, ranging in ages, fished to win small prizes for catching the biggest fish, longest fish, etc.

She kept throwing her line in the water, and then after a very brief time (seconds), decided to reel her line in and run to a different location, only to repeat the same process of reeling in and moving, again and again.

She wasn't catching anything, and was growing a little frustrated.

Then she teamed up with a friend, and they found a spot where they thought the fish might be hiding.

They threw a line in the water and hung out together, and after a while, they hooked a fish.

It wasn't a big one, but it didn't matter.

They were having fun, and accomplishing something as a team.

Sometimes joining forces is a necessary and much more enjoyable way to put in the time it takes to reach a goal.

Because you have to keep your line in the water if you're going to catch a fish.
