The Refraction Test Method for Sourcing and Recruiting

The Refraction Test Method for Sourcing and Recruiting

Here’s ONE WAY to recruit better, at a lower cost to your company, and find hiring success in a shorter time frame…

...it’s called The Refraction Test Method.

During an eye exam for patients needing prescription glasses, an Optometrist leads patients through a Refraction Test.

The Refraction Test is the part of the eye exam when the Optometrist has the patient look through a device called a phoropter, and asks the patient if the image they see is clearer through lens one or lens two.

The Optometrist will adjust the lenses (or options) in the phoropter for each eye, and ask a few more times:

“Clearer through lens 1 or lens 2?”

“Option 1 or Option 2?”

Notice, there are only two options.

This is a subjective test, and it requires the patient’s input from viewing actual samples.

Because it would be ridiculous to go to the optometrist and try to describe to them how clearly you want to see.

Of course, all of this happens BEFORE the glasses are made.

But in recruiting, we don't often begin with sample resumes - we tend to start with a hypothetical job description.

Instead, try starting with a resume database and two sample resumes.

Don't screen them, don’t interview them.

Option 1 or Option 2?

And work your way to clarity and agreement.
