The 'More' Lever

Pulling what I call "the MORE Lever" is going to cost your company its best workers moving forward. Here's why...

We see "the MORE Lever" often pulled in publicly traded companies.

Because publicly traded companies answer to shareholders.

And shareholders always want more:

MORE Sales

MORE Revenue

MORE Profits

MORE Growth

MORE Returns

As a result, companies under this type of pressure pass that pressure down to their workers.

They tell their workers they need to get MORE production out of them.

And thus, the worker who gave everything they had last year is asked to do MORE this year.

So, when you're a working mother or father, you end up stealing the TIME you need to do MORE from your kids.

Because there are only 24 hours in a day.

And there's only so much a person can do.

But it's not just publicly traded companies that do this.

It's many of us.

Let's stop stealing time from our kids.

Let's stop asking for MORE and instead demand BETTER.

Outstanding quote from the article:

"The solutions that your own parents used probably won’t work for you."

Interesting story from the Wall Street Journal on the challenges working mothers face in the workforce:

Two working parents who wanted to raise their children without daycare moved from Seattle to Kansas to get back more time and more work-life balance.

It worked.
