42 Years Old

There's something historically significant about this library picture, and the placement of the stool in the photo, in particular. Can you guess what it is?...

Teddy Roosevelt stood in that spot inside the Wilcox Mansion on Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo, September, 1901, when he took the Presidential oath of office.

He was 42 years old at the time.

The youngest President ever.

He controversially invited Booker T. Washington to dinner, and became the first President to have dinner at the White House with an African American.

He established the National Forest Service, the Antiquities Act, and 5 National Parks.

And he won the Nobel Peace Prize.

He went hard after Child Labor, Segregation, and Corporate Monopolies.

Plus, he was the first sitting President to leave the country, visiting Panama, and he fought for the rights of Immigrants.

And he was the leader of the REPUBLICAN PARTY.

This is not a political message.

Simply a reminder: Don't let anyone put you or your ideals in a box.

You can do and be whatever you want.

And if you need inspiration, head over to the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site on Delaware Ave, in downtown Buffalo.

They're giving private tours right now for $12 an adult.
