Am I Building a Winning Team?
The other night, I had the privilege of attending a small, intimate dinner at New Era Field, with Buffalo Bills GM, Brandon Beane serving as a special guest, kindly answering (almost!) any question we threw at him about the business of building a winning team. Here are a few things I learned...
The character of a person matters | Performance on the field is a must, but how do they treat people off the field? Not just players and team staff, but the janitor, security guard, and cleaning crew.
Have a Process for bringing people onto your team that includes Data and 'Comparables' | What data do you have on a potential team member, that shows they have positive odds of producing the results you're looking for? Who has come before them that had comparable data, and how did they produce?
Experiences (work and otherwise) are so much more fun when you're participating in them with people you love | I got to spend the evening with my Dad.
